ok i got a 1999 f 550 tow truck the speedometer and odmometer quit on me the other day, i replaced the speedo senor in the rear end and it still did not work i ran a scan on the truck to see is the computer is reconizing speed which it is not. my abs light is also on. the airbag clockspring whis in the stering colum is broke and i am replacing that in the morning whis i beleive controls the cruise control i doubt that has anything to do with it .does anyone have any cluewhat the problem is with my odomometer and speedometer.
I had a similar problem on a 99 250 at work. Changed the VSS with no luck. The guy driving it had to make an emergency stop when someone pulled out in front of him and everything started working then. It's been fine for the last 4 months now.
I know it's not the best recommendation, but it's worth a shot if only to see if your ABS system is still working properly.
well i beleive the abs is working find because i had to make some sudden stops quite of bit haha someone told me that it is between the sensor on the rear end and the wire harness. i have no clue and as far as a output speed sensor on the transmission i don't believe their is one on this truck the only sensor i am aware of is the speedo sensor in the rear end correct me if i am wrong thanks for yalls help......

there is an output speed sensor on the transmission
I'm assuming that unlike myself, most of you have the auto tranny. If the VSS doesn't fix the problem and you believe it is the OSS, is is located per these diagrams on 250-550 models on the auto tranny.
