I am wanting to know what year bumpers work with a 1972 F100? I am looking at putting a winch on my truck and need to if later years will work even with a little modification. Thanks everyone
More info needed. 2 or 4wd? Front or rear bumpers? The rear frame widened in 73-79 except for 73-77 F-250 4wd. IIRC they used different mounting brackets. The fronts stayed the same width. Same front bumper to 77. In 78-79 Ford went cheap with the slot front bumper which is made out of real thin metal.
my sons 72 F250 front bumper is out of alignment with the grill ad body (passenger side is lower than the driver side), and it appears there is no way to adjust the bumper seeing how it bolts directly to the frame? Anyone else have this issue before?
interestingly enough, the passenger side is lower and also further out forward from the driver side... The driver side looks perfectly aligned with the grill, I just can't imagine how the passenger side could be further forward by 1/2" or so, I mean the frame doesn't stretch, and it the passenger side frame horn doesn't look bent at all. I'm going to pull the bumper off and check things out.
Actually I think it is frame damage. If you use an angle finder and check the frame's left and right end angles from the side, I bet you'll find the left frame horn is pushed back and up. If I am correct that truck hit something on the left side. The L/S is back and up. The right frame bumper mount point is now a pivot point. Which forces the R/S of the bumper forward and down. Like a teder todder.

Only the 250 4X4 and 350 had the extra mounting brackets to attach the bumper. The others are direct mount to the frame horn leaving you without any adjustment. A good frame shop should be able verify and correct it for you.
