Trailer Brake control for 2011 F-150

Just got a 2011 F-150 5.0 today. My question is, I have a trailer brake controller on my 07 Expedition. Can I simply unplug that and plug it into my 2011, or do I have to get a whole new wiring harness?

Yes, it will work in your new truck.

But, you will have to buy a new adapter. They changed the trailer brake connector in 2009.

I took the old brake controller out of my 06 expedition and put it in my 2010 at work and needed a new truck-side plug. Mine cost me about $15, so it is a minimal one time expense.

So I will need the whole harness that goes from the controller to the truck? Or there is an actual adapter that I plug into?

I bought this

FORD Brake Control Connector (Universal)

Because my controller has the four wires coming out the back. If yours has the connector, then you probably want this

FORD Plug-In Simple!® Brake Control Connector

I would get an OEM controller, but that is just me. Those of you with aftermarket controllers, does the real time gain and adjustment and trailer connections show up on the productivity screen in your Instrument clusters?
