Hey guys.. I just bought a electric brake controller made by Valley Industries. model is the Journey HD. In the instructions it says it just a plug in and mount kind of deal. My truck has the trailer package from factory but no controller for the brakes.. Does anyone know where the plug is located on a 2003 SD.
They say its by the brake petal, but I haven't been able to find it.. ????
Its been a while since I installed a brake controller, but they don't just plug in. There will be wires in the harness " prewired " for the controller in some cases, but knowledge of 12V DC systems will be required to complete. If you have never dealt with installing one and have limited electrical tools I suggest getting some assistance.
its under the dash right at the bottom on the left side above the transmission hump. If you do a search you should find some posts with pics. I can't remember who the poster was. Hope this helps, if not I'm sure someone else will chime in.
Well, Jorge beat me to it. I was gonna post that picture (Andrew "aklim" snapped it for me a few years back) for the OP, but you linked him to it already.
That plug haunts me. I had my old brake controller out a few times trying to fix it. Then bought a new p3 and a wire harness. And trying to unplug and plug in, is a pain in the ****. I had to walk away a few times.

I actually unhooked that connector from that metal dash-support; I got tired of slicing my hand open trying to plug in the harness.
