lifters

I have been looking at lifters that I could use in my project motor. Well, I first would like to know if there are any other 177 cid motors made by ford here in the states. Next, the new lifters are taller than the stock ones. Could the added height lead to premature wear of the lifters and bore? Your help here would be greatly appreciated.

Ford also makes the Duratech 3.0, completely different.

302 lifters (not the H.O.) will fit beautifully in the 2.9L, but they stick out about three eights of an inch. That will allow me to rev up until 6000 rpms.

Opps, sorry about that, I was think you had a 3.0 not the 2.9. The 2.6, 2.8 2.9 and 4.0 engines are all based on the same design.

It's all good. I went to my local machine shop and talked to the guys there. I don't know if there is a difference, but it seems the lifters from the older style 302's fit the 2.9L lifter bores and not the newer style (I didn't even know there was different "styles" of 5.0L's). It was by looking at part numbers from a series of part catalogues. If there is anyone with questions on this, I have the part numbers. You may need to get an adjustable pushrod though.
