Guidance

I have a 1997 F250 7.3 SD with 268000 miles on it. I am experiencing some lifting in the front and floating when I have my trailer attached. It has not done this before. Any help appreciated.

Also its a short bed and I would like to improve the ride. I guess decrease the roughness when driving. What can I do?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to FTE
Is it 4X4 or 2wd? I'm assuming lifting mean it sways correct? Check all your steering components for loose or worn out tie rods

6 spd, 4X4 warn hubs, Tie rods seem to be ok. Had an issue with the center link and its been replaced. Brother thinks its leaf springs in rear or shocks.

Do you have a rear sway bar? If so check the bushings and the end links.

Will check.

What about the axle swap I hear and been reading about. Will this do anything for the ride?

By floating so you mean in the steering? These steering boxes aren't great and wear out causing that. Less front end weight can amplify the feeling. Also a loose pitman arm nut can feel the same.

thought my steering was getting a little loose. Pitman nut was a bit loose. Got a half turn in it and look forward to my morning commute. Reps sent

there may very well be nothing wrong with the truck, and the problem may actually be as simple as weight distribution in the trailer has changed and too much weight is in the front of the trailer lifting the front end of the truck
