2017 Ford 450 Dually - Ride/Steering/Saftey Issue
Hi All:
I have a 2017 Ford 450 Dually with only 2900 miles. I want to know if anyone is having the problem with the ride of this truck on the highway?
I have noticed on multiple occasions that when driving on a highway with uneven pave concrete, or when there are minor grooves in the road from road construction the truck does not handle very well at all, even compared to my 2015 F350 dually. In my situation the truck will try to pull to the right and when I try to bring it back on he road it feels like it want's to almost pull directly of the road almost in a uncontrolled manner.
Today, I was driving down the road about 50 MPH and went of the road to the right slightly and the truck kept continue to go the right. When I tried to compensate by turning the steering wheel left slightly the truck immediately went left almost on the other side of the road in a head on collision.
Any time there is any bad road the truck steering seems to be terrible and I fear this could be a safety issue.
Could this be the adaptive steering, the tires?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat

Mine has not shown any bad behavior. Seattle to Portland the ride was much better than my F-350. One stretch in Seattle always bucked so hard in my 350 that it was hard to keep the go peddle down. Not a problem anymore. The area through Olympia has split lane paving as I-5 is getting upgraded (forever it seems). The drive was not bad at all. No worse than a small car and much more fun to drive. Diving through Whidbey Island and down the Oregon coast on Highway 101 also have challenges but the F-450 made driving a fun smooth experience. I hope things never change.

Yes indeed, the wandering... it happens several times a week in a construction zone on I-69 in south Houston. I just hit 38,000 miles and have to say it only happens to me in construction zones as the tires want to follow the grooves in the road! My solution (in construction zones)is to watch the road with two firm hands on the wheel and man up to control it. One hand relaxing at the wheel doesn't cut it for me, as it will pull me wherever it pleases just as you were saying.
