If only Ford had thought to include such information along with the vehicle.

The MY2014 owner manual specifies 5W-20 synthetic blend or full synthetic. Note that Ford changed the spec to 5W-30 starting with the 2016 model year.

We run 5W30 in our '17 truck. If it was my truck I would run 5W30 as well. I'm sure there a reason why Ford went with a thicker oil later just like they did with the Eco Boost.

I run 5W-30 now as well.
Your 2014 calls for 5W-20 like my 2013.
It's on the fill cap.

If your still under warranty, run the 5w20 that is recommended. If your out of warranty, run 5w30. Don't give them any reason to deny you coverage if you should need it.

Had to chuckle at this comment...To be fair, owner's manuals for the past 20 years are stuffed so full of gobbledygook that it's getting hard to find the useful info. Ever try to find service info in a Volkswagen owner's manual?

But then with Ford, you can probably find the info on the oil fill cap. Since motorcraft brand oil at Autozone is about the same price as the other good oils it's actually one of the simplest maintenance items to get.

As bad as I hate walmart, the motorcraft oil is a fraction of the price there.

WalMart also has SuperTech full synthetic in 5W-20 and 5W-30. And you'll be hard pressed to find filters cheaper anywhere.

I use to change oil in everything at three thousand miles no matter what. So I finally committed to change my ways and make a minimum of five thousand miles from now on. I went five thousand miles and changing it this morning it was definitely dark. I noticed the dark hue of it coming out of the drain and the oil filter while unscrewing it. I'm not saying this means anything except that it will be dark at five thousand miles. From past experience the oil still looks new at three thousand miles so somewhere between three and five thousand miles I guess it turns.
Going forward I still will be sticking with five thousand mile oil change intervals.
