Howdy y'all! need some help with my 84 bronco xlt full size, I put a whole new starting system(starter, solenoid, cables, ignition switch) and now when I try to start my bronco the starter stays engaged when the engine is running and the key doesn't spring back, anybody have any ideas as to what this may be caused by? Any help is much appreciated.
not sure how the lock cylinder is connected to the ign switch but i would think there is a spring that helps it return to its run position. if the only spring is in the switch then you might have put it in a bind and its not returning on it's own.
The ignition switch, mounted inside column's shroud is where the spring-back is provided, but actuator(s) is often damaged.. Ensure switch is securely mounted first.
The actuator transfers the rotation of the cylinder to the push/pull of the rod. The rod is on top of the steering column so the actuator needs to transfer that motion around the steering column from the key cylinder to the rod.
