It all started when Ford came out with the step built into the tailgate. I thought that was a great idea even though the new tailgate wouldn't have fit my truck and I wasn't going to spend THAT much money to buy one anyway.
THEN there was this Chevy commercial where a bunch of middle school buttholes (including one Howie Long) were making fun of it. Look Howie, I use my truck to WORK not haul my overpaid carcass to and from the studio. ANYTHING that makes my work easier is fine by me.
Anyone else notice that Chevy soon had steps formed into the ends of THEIR rear bumpers?? Well, if I can't get a tailgate with a step, I'll put steps into my OWN factory bumper!!
I have some pics of the finished product. I lost all the pics of the work while in progress. Basically cut out a wedge, make and weld the steps, grind the welds and the chrome and spray with bedliner coating.
I have the 'Chevy step' in my Fab Fours rear bumper, and it's probably my favorite thing about it. Your's looks great and has more purchase for your foot. If I could change anything about these I'd have them louvered to grip your foot, leather sole boots and wet metal are pretty slick.
