hi guys, i have a quick question, about a mod that i would like to do not to completely loose the tail gate. is there a way to make it open all the way down?
im putting a boom in the back of it, basically repo style, as ill be moving quite a few cars/trucks with it, but in the meantime id like to have it closed, so is there a way t open it all the way down so that the arm can come out and lift up the car?
any help is appreciated, i did some searching and didnt find much other than seeing some repo turned trucks without the back bumper alltogether.
thanks
BTW,its a 99 f250 superduty

I dont see why it wouldn't? There is nothing from the tailgate down if you take the rear bumper off... You would have to take off the tailgate latches of course then fab something from the tailgate to the boom as in the picture then it would raise and lower on command from the boom.. I see this working, obviously. lol
yeah hopefully it should work.
im not too concerned about it being on command, would be nice of course, but since this is no sneaking around kinda thing, i can take my time and open the gate myself.
thanks for your replies.
well the boom is already in the truck, im just trying to figure out if i can keep the gate on there somehow,
ill take the bumper off in the next few days to see whats what, and maybe someone else chimes in too in the meantime....
i have a question, on the passenger side there is a slot so you can lift the gate off, if you open it all the way down like in the picture the gate will just slid right off the hinge and drop to the ground, so is there two drivers side hinges installed? If i were you djomlas id go back to the place that installed your boom system and see what they offer for this. Theres tons of trucks with this setup and there must be a "kit" for the tailgate
