I have no signs of any leakage. I'm going to check my oil weekly to see if there is any consumption. My brother is going the Ford tech who always works on my truck. Most vehicles I do the maintenance myself but honestly with his discount I can't even buy the materials to change my own oil that cheap so I just let him do it. He has not mentioned any oil consumption or anything concerning. Hopefully mine will be spared from this fate. I have read on other forums of some with this issue and some without and all from people within the tsb date range. I guess we will see what happens hopefully everything is good. I am going to watch the oil consumption closely though that seems to be the key is having issues with oil consumption.

I took mine in at 22,000 miles and they are currently replacing the engine. Ford delivered the engine in two days and they began repairs yesterday. They gave me an Explorer Limited so I could take a trip from Michigan to Philadelphia then loaned me a F150. They also mentioned that the warranty will be extended from the date of replacement. I will give an update when I have it back.

So is this the fate of all the 2.7's built within these dates? If so mine will go eventually the date on my door jam sticker is 5/16. Is this something that will only effect some in that build date. You would think ford could narrow this down by VIN and let us know exactly how many are affected by this.

Wilb did your dealer offer to extend the warranty or did you call Ford Customer Service? I'm would like for them to extend my warranty for 10years/100,000 for me to feel comfortable with this "new engine". Also, are you getting a "new engine" or a rebuilt one? I'm curious what is different about this new engine so it won't happen again. I'm currently in a rental while I await for them to order and install the new engine.

I received my truck last Friday and drove it about 600 miles over the weekend on a trip. Unfortunately the dealership is now not extending the warranty. Either the service rep mis-spoke or just are not doing it. I will be calling Ford.

The engine is new. However, now I am having a loud tick on the driver's side at idle. I am taking the truck back in to revisit the sound. It is not normal "turbo tick" I know they are going to try and say it is normal.

Good luck wilb. I just picked mine up today and drove it home about 15 miles. So far everything seems fine. I requested a phone call from the service manager at the dealership (who was off today) as I expect my dealership to fight the battle with Ford to get my warranty extended. I don't have high hopes and will probably have to call Ford myself. Let me know how things go with you.
