I've got a 2004 F150 Lariat 4x4 with the 5.4 engine. I just want to make sure I get the correct spark plugs which are the newest updated ones so they don't break in the future. Is the Motorcraft SP-515 the correct plug? RockAuto doesn't list that plug for my truck so I wanted to make sure. Also, what's the correct COP number? Is that DG511 and are all 8 the same number? Thanks for the info.
projectSHO89, I did look mine up using the VIN and it gives four different plugs. Two that apparently fit the Heritage version(which mine is not) cause they look like a normal plug without the long extension part to it and then two that have the long extension part. One of the them was the SP-507. I've read more and am pretty confident that the SP-515 is the replacement for the SP-507. You'd think with my VIN that it would give me the exact plug instead of including others. That's why I asked on here.
wheelerfreak, thanks. I have never replaced the plugs but have read on here a lot about it. My truck has 225,000 miles so I'm hoping that the updated plugs were used when they were last replaced...whenever that was I'm not sure.
Also I stripped most of the bolts that hold the COPs in place when removing them since they were so rusted. They were fun to remove and had to get new ones after using an extractor nut to get them out. Be careful literally from start to finish.
