Since I bought my truck, the e-brake hasn't fully worked and driversode rear brake appeared to be partially locked up as is would smell and smoke a bit on longer trips. Today I pulled it apart and the cable running from the self-adjuster up to the top was broken in half as pictured.
I bought a spring replacement kit from advanced thinking it would come in that, which of course it didn't but the springs could use replacing anyway so not all that terrible. Where should I be looking to replace the broken cable or how much am I going to have to pull out to do so. Also the e-brake cable right at the equalizer has broken off so might be better to just replace the whole system from there back I'm thinking?
Any help would be great, I'm no mechanic, but can get around just fine with some trial, error and YouTube.
The truck is a 1991 F250 custom, 4x4, manual, reg cab, short bed, with a 351. Thanks in advance!
Rockauto is where I got my cables at, and it looks like they have the self adjuster too. You should be able to figure the cables out, it was my first job
I did on my truck and ebrake still works great. For anything else brake related, a pull a part is the way to go. Good luck!
