1950 F1 Parking brake rear wheel setup

So. Finally have all the parts (I think) required for installing the parking brake system but never having seen all the parts together and only having IPB's to work from there's still some guess work. Is the pic below correctly installed?

Is the blue spring orientation correct?

Got the cable from the equalizer lever hooked to the actuating lever but can't get the cable sheath fitting locked into the backing plate--any tips?

You might have to pull a shoe to get at the cable retainer, and spread the "legs" on it. Although usually when I can't get it to catch on its own, it means the cable isn't into the backing plate quite all the way.

Thanks! I tried using a punch to seat the connector by tapping it around the rim but a no go. I'll try pulling the shoe off.

What is that blue spring all about?
I don't remember a spring on mine, and I don't remember one shown in the parts diagram.

It is to keep the equalizer bar from rattling and up against the park brake lever.

Be careful of what you get for parking cable retainers if you are buying new. My originals where MIA when i assembled the rear brakes so i ordered them and they were not the correct size at all and wouldn't firmly retain the cable. I ended up figuring it out and getting the correct one's but it can drive you nuts if you don't have at least a visual on an original clip.
