Fan issue

So at low idle my fan is running like 230rpm according to torque pro. I think this is causimg my ect to rise when at idle. It's usually 192-194* but if I'm idling in traffic or just In general (after it's been running a while) it climbs to 195.8, 197, 199.2, 201, 203, 204.8. Haven't seen it get higher than the 204. Now once I get moving again it will lower back down. I can see where I have flow into the degas not to mention the water pump is new. Could my low fan speed be my issue? I believe it should be more around 500rpm at low idle. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

It looks good. I am happy at 202º.
The PCM knows what is going on and will add in more fan if needed.

Under a year. But I also thought they were fail open. I thought about that but I really don't want to take it out the po cross threaded those bolts so it's only a matter of time before it doesn't go back in.

My fan speed on the way home tonight at idle and 193* was around 350. Moving on the freeway it would run between 500-570 rpms. Hope that gives you a reference to work off of.

One thing you could do is check and see if the radiator has anything
plugging the cooling fins between it and the intercooler. Also check
the A/C condenser while you looking.

Ya I'll look in there and see maybe I dropped something down there or leaves who knows. And thanks for the reference I guess my fan isn't the issue.

I'm having the same issue. I do believe it's the fan clutch. Almost every day, on my 21 mile trip home from work, ect is normal (192-200) at hwy speeds. Then, when I pull into my neighborhood for the last 2 miles at 25 mph driving, my ect goes up to 202-206 by the time I get into my garage. At that time, my fan speed is in the 220-280 range. I usually crank the A/C to max cooling to try to trigger the PCM to call for more fan speed. After about 2-3 minutes, the fan rpm's climb to 850-900 and begins to bring the ect down. This is while idling sitting in the garage. I always have to sit and wait to let this process happen. I don't like shutting the engine at the higher temps.
I've cleaned the radiator area, made sure the egr is plugged in, etc. The thing is that the fan eventually does it's job, I just don't like how long it takes to do it.
It would be helpful to know what the "normal" fan speeds should be for idle while at full temp, or some relationship between ect, engine rpm's and fan speed rpm's. I don't know if my fan clutch is truly going out or if something else is going on. For me, the pattern is going from hwy speeds to very slow speeds. It eventually does get to the right temps, it just seems like it shouldn't have to get that hot before the fan rpm's go up.

after a few minutes idling in the garage...

I see my temps climb after about a year on a oem thermostat so for $25 I just change it out.

The T-stat I got from IH is still holding stable. I
think it pushing 3 years now. I still have the box
and I had put the removal date on the one I took
out. So I guess I need to look.

EDIT :

I just looked at the date I uploaded the photo of
the box and that is 3 years old.

My egr is plugged in just laying in the valley. Something is going on with my cooling system. Maybe thermostat I'm just nervous to pull it out again. Either I'm just unlucky or I can't catch a break with the ol girl. I'm gonna ride it out for a bit and see what happens. I never see over the 204.8 or at least haven't yet. I just don't like that it raises my eot as I'm pretty sure somehow my oil cooler got clogged during headgaskets. (Didn't flush the system as my deltas were good) Considering doing the little bypass valve though as maybe i damaged it having the housing off during the job. I could beat my head against the wall for hours I guess.

Heli-coil is an easy fix for your housing if you have the tools and know how. If your deltas go up with ECT you need to fix that first. Before I pulled the oil cooler I would back flush it and run 3 qts of restore through it. If your deltas stay below 15* leave it alone and just change the thermostat.
