OT- Sirius/XM

I don't know how many of us have Sirius/XM but it was time to renew or quit my subscription again. Upon threatening to quit "again"- I was offered "Select" for $99 plus taxes and fees- $123 or 6 months for $30 plus fees and taxes $37. I was amazed as one of my buds was paying $250 yr.

I pay $0, when I got mine around 17 yrs ago I was offered 4 options. One of them was for a lifetime, for some reason I chose this one. Now I'm glad I did, whenever I get a new ride,I just take the brain out and install in the new one. But what I've heard about renewing you did the right thing, threaten to quit and they'll give it to you cheaper. Just like the cable/internet/phone companies. L8R ZFLASH

Our XM's got so high to renew that we've dropped all but one. I Bluetooth to my phone and listen to free Pandora.

It must be that time of year for xm to be pressing for subscriptions, I get an email 4 times a week offering everything from 6 months free with no activation or some other options.

Was your 6 month price for one or two radios? You are correct. It's about $2 a month different if your price was for just one radio.

I got the renewal notice a few weeks ago and I called to tell them that when it expires to shut it off. So the idiot, Dwayne, that I spoke with shut it off immediately. I had it on in my office and all of a sudden it goes off. I asked him what happened and he said he shut it off. I told him not now, when the subscription runs out! He apologized and offered me a year at $5.00 a month. Great price but I have one better. Amazon Prime. $99.00 a year. For that you get commercial Amazon Music, commercial Amazon TV and free shipping on all purchases on Amazon for a year. Now since I have unlimited data on my T-Mobile contract, I don't need Sirius/XM any more.

Satellite radio is going to go the way of over the air radio/TV and the dodo bird. Extinct! Just like newspapers, they are failing to adjust to the times. Losing readers/listeners/members? Raise your rates! I hate commercials/ads and all of these mediums are adding more and more commercials/ads to make up for lost members/readers/listeners.

Look around. There are always alternatives.

Later!
Mr. Ed

I did the lifetime subscription on my XM. When my free subscription ran out 10 years ago, I did the lifetime... My neighbor did better by buying one @ a Goodwill for $5 and it had lifetime subscription on it...

Those that live or regularly travel in areas where cell phone service is spotty or non-existent will still appreciate the the satellite service but as the cell phone companies close those holes the business model for satellite service becomes less and less attractive.
