So I've never had a vehicle with Sirius before, my free trial is about up. I figured for the $29 for 6 month offer I'd renew it for now. No way I'd pay their usual price. What is your guys experience with them. I saw the fine print that says it will renew automatically unless you cancel, so when the time comes is it really hard to cancel? Do they hound you to death afterwards? Thanks!

Don't give them your card number...they like to play games. The $29 offer is about the best you can do so go with it if you like Sirius. Tell them to bill you by mail.
First, mark the last day on your calendar and setup a reminder.
Call on that day.
Tell them you understand that your account is about to expire and you'd like to know what options there are to renew it.
They'll throw out an offer than sounds awesome. But its something like $20 a month. I just keep telling them the offer is too expensive.
They'll throw out $99 for a year. Which, if I just don't want to deal with them, I'll bite on. This past March I told them if they'd throw in online streaming at that rate I'd jump. They offered a year for my F150 and streaming for $120. So I took it. I'm using the streaming app quite a bit it turns out.
If I don't bite at $99 I just keep telling them it is too expensive.
Eventually, they'll get down to $25 for 6 months or $20 for 5 months and I'll bite there. Set the calendar reminder and call back in 5 or 6 months.
I've been doing this routine for years.
Once or twice they don't get me where I want to be and I tell them to just turn off the radio. Only 1 time after getting that far do they actually do it. They usually relent. But in the other time, I started getting fliers offering the rate I wanted and I renewed.

This is basically the same thing I do. I always say no, too much money. They are trained to win the sale, so they will keep reducing the price. Only so far, but it does become reasonable eventually.
It can be a long phone call. I've spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to cancel the service. Everyone else has the right idea. They'll keep lowering the price until you bite, but only to a certain point. And FYI, you have to call them to cancel. They won't let you do it on their website.
Off the $ figures for Sirius here, but is it just me who thinks their audio quality sucks? The hi-end for sure is flat and non-crisp, and overall the fidelity and freq range is kinda poor.
Almost sounds like they are compressing the crap outta the signal (to get more stations within their bandwidth limit per satellite). But if I'm paying?.... it's gotta be better than this crap!

Agreed. I've had Sirius for a long time in multiple vehicles and just normal over the air FM radio blows it away in sound quality. I keep renewing it because I prefer the content, fewer or no ads, but it leaves a lot to be desired by my ears.
They always come back with some crazy high dollar amount to renew.......but after 5 min of listening to their BS, they'll eventually give the same deal or something super close to it.
They are shady. I ended up getting a second truck and was told they would transfer over the free 6 months thus I get a whole year free combined. I was rather greatful for this.
So I got a notice my subscription was expiring and called in. The free year was at the old rate which apparently was really good. The new rate being higher my year credit ended up being 6 months cash to cash value.
I was pissed off but figured what ever and continued on.

I'm another who follows a similar routine... seems to work well. I've only had to let it deactivate once, and just as stated you'll get the mailer for a cheap renewal...
