Hello there! Names Isaac, 20 years old from Las Vegas, NV. I just recently brought my first car, and I'm new to the forms.
So a month ago, I just brought myself a 2002 Ford Ranger (regular cab). As I was driving it home from buying it, some jerkward crash into me head on. Since I just brought the Ranger, I didn't have insurance on it at the time.
But now I would like to get it fixed. I don't think the frame is damaged, but I know the radiator support is bent, as well as the left metal piece that the bumper attaches to on the bottom. I bent the support back in place a little bit, with the help of a pulley and a friends Dodge Ram.
Can anyone give me any ideas on what to do? As a college I don't have a lot of funds. But I would like to treat my truck well.
If you were hit by another/it was his fault, His insurance pays for your damage. Hope you had an officer document the accident. If not & your on the hook for repairs & are strapped for cash, as Dan suggested, visit your local salvage yard for parts & let us know how the repairs go.
Just to put it out there. And I know you dont want to hear this. But replacing both fenders, hood, all the grill parts, lights, support, radiator, water pump (if the radiator pushed into the fan) realistically may make it not worth fixing. Add in the airbags and its not a good outcome. You need to have someone look at it because you might put it all back together and then find out it wont drive straight due to frame damage you didnt notice.
Painful lesson no matter how this comes out.
If it was the other drivers fault, then it should be paid for by his insurance. But im guessing if you are asking here there is more going on there than we are aware of.
Hello everyone. Sadly the guy took off and I'm stuck with the repairs. The only damage to the truck (besides the radiator support and front grill, lights, and bumpers) was the radiator. I had to tow it home due to the radiator being crushed and was leaking all over the place. Other then that, the rest of the mechanical workings are perfect and is drives perfectly.
I looked at my local junk yards, and none of then have any parts for my ranger other then the lights.
But to answer one's question, no the air bags DID NOT go off. I believe one of the previous owners messed with the wiring. Because air bags are not responsive, the horn does not work, and I believe my turn signals in the front are coming from the wrong location.
Should they be coming from the amber lights on the sides? Because they come from the headlights themselves.
