well today on my way to school i hit a 8 point buck...the front in is shot..the hood will not open and the radiator is busted..the lights are broke, the grill is in a million pieces all over the road...just wanted to know how much you guys would think it cost to get fix if i do it at home, hood, grill, lights, radiator, and im not sure if anything else is damaged yet cause i cant get the hood open...i figure at least a couple hundred...luckily the deer went down and not up...
Do u think u hit it hard enough to mess the frame up because if u got the frame that is alot of money to get it fixed most insurance people dont mess with that kinda stuff it is so much money to fix a frame so much time and all. It is hard to say what is messed up who knows what u will find that is bent or broke u just dont know til u jump in to it and see what u have wrong. Good lucky I hope it is an easy fix for u
Without pictures it be hard to tell, but to start with a list of possible things to replace:
Hood, grill, lights, trim. bumper filler, bumper, fenders, radiator, radiator, core support, a/c coil, refrigerent.
How quickly did you get it shut off? Assuming you didn't run it out of radiator fluid.
We have no idea what year Ranger you are driving and if it's 4x4 or not. $200 will probably get you just a radiator, assuming you buy a quality new one. And yes, pics would help a lot. One thing for sure about repairing wrecked vehicles; all the money is in the front end.
more info please. If this is a 1990 2wd RC rust bucket with 500K on it, throw it in the nearest dumpster. If its a 04 Level II, different story.
Glad you were not hurt, hitting a deer is scary, esp if it happens on a 4 lane Hwy like mine. In this case, EVERYONE PLEASE dont swerve without looking to see what worse trouble you will cause...its probably better to just hit the deer.
Well, almost comparable. I hit a mailbox, the big buff brick double mailboxes. New hood, left fender, alteeza headlights and clear corners (just for kicks), bumper, air dam, header panel, windshield, alightment and paint came to almost $1500 I believe it was. It's been a while since I saw the actual prices. I had to force the hood into place, mounting hinges were bent pretty badly. Strangely, the one thing that survived just fine was the plastic grille.
well i finally got the hood popped..had to take off the latch assembly and then pretty much yank it out..that sucker was bent...look like the radiator got pushed into the fan...its all shot...need from the fan up to the bumber replaced...it ran for about 5 seconds after i hit the deer..i pulled it over to the side of the 4 LANE HIGHWAY...and shut it off...yes i kept that deer..its already gutted skinned and hanging in the garage..ive got pics but my comp is dial up and is slow as heck...its an 87' 2wd 5 speed...i locked up the brakes and it was still in gear..no idea how it was still running but it was..i may have taken it out but it happend to fast so i dont remember really...luckily there was no one behind or beside me...i had to drag the deer out of the 5 foot ditch it slid into and across the 4 lane highway to the truck to get it but it wasnt to bad...it broke the 2 front legs in half so it wasnt movin if it tried...the truck is almost taken apart to the radiator..gotta take off the bumper and a few other things and i can pull it apart...the bumber isnt even bent or anything..just a few scratches...i dont think it did anything to the frame..if it did i would buy my bros bronco 2 with the same motor and fix it, 4x4 4spd same 2.9l v-6...the bad part...dads truck, dads b-day also..yea..lol..and on top of all that i found out when i got home from school that my g-mas house caught on fire when they were gone...also on my dads side of the family..some b-day he had huh? luckily it was only 1 room of the house and nothing was damaged to bad...the engine only had either 108k or 208k i dunno how many times it may have rolled over before we got it..i think just once...
I just got my truck out of the body shop. Replaced the hood, drivers side fender, bumper, grill, valance, headlight and corner. The bill was $3100. Thank God for insurance. I checked out some parts for it on ebay and I could have probably done it myself for about half that.
got car accadent my self and it cost 7100 to get it fixed and the body shop put the wrong coolent in and runened the A/C not in makes a grinding noise everytime i start the engine.
then they should fix that for free if they messed it up..i hate that crap when the people who fix your vehical mess somethin up...anyway...itll be fixed in a few weeks but ill have my f-150 by then so the truck will be drivin as backup for dad mom or me...i swear first day of shotgun season for deer im goin and killin as many as i can..lol..less on the road to worry about...also turns out the same morning a doe jumped out in front of a semi..needless to say there wasnt much left...the semi kept goin..lol...there was peieces everywhere...o yea and about the same time i hit the deer is when the semi hit the other one..and on the same road at that...just one messed up day i guess..
