My old daily driver 57 f100 is currently under the knife. I hit a deer at a good rate of speed and took out the valence, fenders, and grill. After years waiting for parts and time to start repairs, now I find out that the cab corners are shot and I can't find replacement pieces. Any help tracking down these (now) elusive panels would be greatly appreciated!
1957 f100 short bed
Truck was purchased around 2005 with a 90's t-bird suspension up front and a 97 4.6 in it. I guess this was before tho Vic swap became popular. I bought it out of north Jersey, before that it lived in Florida with some sort of hemi in it.
I want to fix and paint this summer. Hoping to avoid having to have the can corners made...
It seems nobody is making, or selling those cab corners but if you watch ebay closely, they do pop up on there. I think a half handy sheet metal guy could bang out something suitable.
Some suppliers list optimistic dates to expect the next batch, others more realistically say they don't know.
i've been following on eBay as well as searching for them on Ford truck sites.
i am deep into a 64 Galaxie build. The fabricator could make them for me I'm sure, but I wanted to do this one myself.
Guess I should buy the steps now just in case the supply dries up too
We are talking about making a big back window kit for these. If we go ahead with that making the corners would be easy. I could make them with a glue flange on them.
I am glad I bought mine last year at Dennis Carpenter when I was there. I assumed that they will be bad when I get to that point being that the new floor pans were pop riveted to the rusted out old ones. I think they might have done the same with the cab corners along with 1 gallon of bondo. I am waiting to tackle the cab once the new garage is done. I picked up the permit and waiting for the weather to cooperate.
