My 2004 E350 fan kicked on loud at 210 degrees and I knew I had a problem. I pulled over as soon as possible in a rest area. Coolant was sprayed all over. I let everything drip and dry. Filled the degas with RO water, cranked the engine up, and found the leak in the upper radiator plastic tank.
Ford no longer carries a radiator for the ESeries in this year. Any suggestions on brands?
Plan on replacing all the radiator hoses. Costs more than $100!
Looks like I am flushing my cooling system sooner than I thought. We leave for Alaska in July.
I put the OEM part #6c2z8005b into Google and found this company Superior Cooling Systems in Texas.
They manufacture an all aluminum radiator for my Ford van.
Most of their business is in the commercial heavy equipment industry. This is probably why many of us have never heard of them as do not sell through retail distribution channels.
Curious to hear how the radiator turns out. If they sell a really nice unit, may be worth shipping, especially if the beat the Mishimoto price!
I called the company and asked if it's 100% aluminum. The sales person said it may include plastic tanks. I requested a 100% aluminum and the sales person said someone will call me tomorrow.
The Ford master tech mechanic repairing the van said to stick with a known brand. He is installing new radiator, glow plugs, glow plug harness and a few other minor repairs.
The van is too tight for me wrench on. I pay him $50 an hour and his work is excellent.
I called Bullet Proof Diesel and they confirmed this is almost the same radiator they sell for the pick up trucks. The sales guy was excited to help me. Told me call and order from Performance. The van has different connections.

I called Bullet Proof Diesel and they confirmed this is almost the same radiator they sell for the pick up trucks.
And at almost twice the cost. The one they offer also won't fit the E series. And neither will a Mishimoto. I also checked with Mishi on their CAC boots as well. Basically they don't make anything for the vans.
The Performance radiator has been in my van for over a year. No issues and it bolted right up with no modifications. The welds were clean and no plastic tanks. I've read of fitment issues on some of the other aftermarket all-aluminum radiators on the market. As far as cooling goes, my rig does run a little less hot but I did a bunch of stuff around the same time including a bigger transmission cooler. And I changed to a slightly less aggressive PCM tune from PHP.
I ordered the Performance radiator. My Ford mechanic was less than thrilled. I own 2 Ford vans-an E150 and E350 diesel. Both vans suffered cracked/leaking radiators in the plastic.
On the other hand, I own a 1999 Subaru Outback with 196,00 with the original radiator.
I will give the Performance a good try. If Bullet Proof Diesel recommends and sells this product, I am willing to try it.
