Well...at 185k, the factory radiator has developed a pinhole leak. It's only draining down maybe a quart a month, but it is still always on my mind like, "Maybe it'll finally give out." So...my question is...is this something that I can tackle myslef? Or will I get easily frustrated and end up taking it into the shop? Any tips or anything I should know about before going either route?
The radiator probably has an aluminum core and plastic tanks. My personal experience with this type radiator has been that they eventually start leaking where the tank meets the core. It is probably not cost effective or maybe not even possible to repair such a radiator.
www.RockAuto.com carries new radiators by several manufacturers currently starting at $174. Hit the More Info tab next to the part number to see the dimensions of the various radiator choices. Radiator replacement is usually a relatively painless do-it-yourself repair. Good luck!
