Torque Tech T1 vs. Spartan

So I've had the opportunity to run them both (currently running the Spartan 120hp tune). Spartan wins easily as far as monitoring capabilities, but I'm not so sure on the power. I don't get it. The T1 "Mild Tune" Level 2, which is an 80hp tune, pulls noticeably harder than the 120hp Spartan and uses much less boost. You really feel the power. The Spartan seems to use much more boost, without the real feel of power to show for it.

Getting up on the freeway is the best example. It also shifts bizarrely into overdrive. I don't gun it up on the entrance ramp by any means...but I am hitting like 2,300RPM and speeds of 70mph before my shift finally occurs...THAT is with a steady foot peddle. When you feel you should have shifted already...let up slightly on the peddle and it will make the shift...then apply throttle again to finish getting up to freeway speeds...this is annoying...and I can't believe this is the way it works. The T1 shifts at the same speed into OD each time. At least it removes the guess work. Granted the shift is harder if you creep up on it...but if you add power at the shift point it smooths out the shift nicely. Better to add power than to have to decrease power to shift into OD in my opinion.

I don't feel I should have to run a 150hp tune or higher, to achieve the same level of performance and/or a normal shift into OD as the T1 80hp tune. This is annoying...and I can't get up on the freeway nearly the way I can with the T1 tuner.

So...I still have both tuners and am not sure what to do. Does anyone else have any experience with either?

I can only attest to the Spartan 210 Tow Tune.
That is all I run. My truck runs so good I don't want to touch it!

I have not heard about the Toque Tech T1. But have always been happy with my Spartan

Appreciate the input sir. I suppose I can try it...I just really don't want that much added hp on the motor. It sort of scares me...even the way I drive...like an old man.

The way I understand it is...the timing is still there doing damage...or at least has the potential to do damage. I suppose if the engine is operating outside of it's design parameters, there is going to be an issue eventually. Or do I not understand it correctly?

If I understand it correctly, the Spartan 210 Tow tune retains the factory warnings. So timing is a potential issue I suppose. I just use mine for towing my 21' boat and a truck camper. Not a lot of stress on the engine. I think as long as you don't drive it like you stole it you should be alright. At least that is what I am hoping for!
I drove mine stock for the first 100k. I wouldn't do that again.

What do you mean by "factory warnings"?

The Phalanx monitor will beep at you if things are getting too hot etc.
I have only experienced this once but it was nice to hear and so I slowed down and things cooled down for me. I'm surprised some others haven't chimed in. There are more knowledgeable people on here regarding this than me.
