Unhappy DPF delete california

Howdy all. I need a little advice. My DFP is bad and thinking I should just do a delete. What are your thoughts and I also heard that I should also include the EGR? Anyways, I am not sure what that would do for California laws.

I have an 08 F250 FX4 Lariat 6.4L. Sucky gas mileage too. Installed Banks exhaust to see if that would help. Well if it did, I don't see it.
Anyways, what ya all think?https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/i...es/oval-03.gif

You have smog inspections for that truck. You won't pass without the OEM equipment.

You'd have to take the dpf off and put it back on for inspection. You'd also have to switch the tuning back and forth. Some people do that, but it would be a hassle. Also, you'd be out of compliance if stopped any other time.

I already smoke now randomly because the unit is bad. $4500 to replace. Just not sure why I've been passing as it will smoke really bad during regens. I guess it is a matter of spending lots to repair or 1/2 and do a delete and get better MPG. Tough decision.

There are places that clean the DPFs. My thought is you'd probably pass emissions testing other than the inspection even if the DPF was faulty. It would be at least as clean as 6.0 PSDs. But maybe they have different levels for different years.

smoking during regen is normal. How many miles on the truck? Any idea miles between regen? How do you know if your DPF is bad? Sorry for the questions. Also, look on craigslist for a used DPF, make sure it is low miles. Lots of people take them off and later sell them. Thanks!

I live in Oregon, but travel to California. I'm told that it's ok to remove the DPF in Oregon as long as you don't live in an area that does smog. Don't know if that's true, but I will find out.

Question is, can you be busted by CHP for no DPF, or since I live in Oregon, no they can't.
