I've been reading this forum for quite a while regarding the new 2017 Super Duty. I really like the looks and features of the new truck, but after reading this forum daily, I cannot spend money on a new Super Duty. Problems, problems, problems! I know people don't post when their truck is running fine but some of the problems I read about are just ridiculous. Ford really needs to give the employees at their plant in Kentucky a kick in the a$$! This stuff is inexcusable. I cannot understand Ford being the number one seller when they put out trucks like this.

A couple of things to keep in mind:
1. This largely an all-new truck... new chassis, body, etc. and there are always a few issues in the first year of a new design, regardless of manufacturer.
2. The people posting issues on these forums represent a small percentage of owners.
If you like the truck, wait and see what 2018 brings. There will almost certainly be some tweaks/refinements to address any common issues that arose during the 2017 model year.
I'm still on the fence myself as to whether I'll order a 2018 Ford or stick with GMC one more time. They're both nice trucks and each has its pluses and minuses.
There's a lot of 17 superduties on the road. I see at least 5 a day. This forum is about modding and troubleshooting so you will read of a lot of issues, so get an ESP and buy from a state with good lemon laws.

Yes, but the problems I read about are not because it is a new truck, it's problems in manufacturing. Like I said, very poor quality control. Ford was ranked number 3 of the big three in initial quality and with good reason in my opinion.

For the price they charge for these things there are ZERO excuses.
This isn't a $20,000 Focus, the MSRP of these trucks is out of control.
At $70k plus I would expect the vehicle to be perfect.
All talk aside, I have to say, compared to many previous vehicles, I have to say the opposite is true. Yes, these trucks are expensive. The ratings I gave my truck when surveyed is all excellent. Think about how many 2017s are already on the road, compared to how many threads are about true issues?
Workmanship is the only thing we can complain about that the assembly workers have any control over. If it the quality issue of a component or assembly it's the lack of or an issue with the manufacturer of said components. Either way it would be nice if the final quality control inspection process could catch 100% of the defects. No one that I know does a 100% inspection of every part and or assembly.
The problem with truck prices isn't that they are too high, it's that it's the only piece of equipment most folks purchase. Look at any real hard assets and they are all rather expensive. When people who NEED massaging leather seats stop buying the trucks, that's when they've gotten too expensive. A cheap SD 4x4 can still be had pretty reasonably compared to most inflation charts, and you get plenty more truck for the dollar.
As for quality, they come off the line pretty darn good. I haven't seen any major trends of concern. You wouldn't want to see the price of perfection.... $70k for a nice truck that they'll come back and fix if a problem crops up is better than what it would cost to find every defect ahead of time.
Agreed @Frantz Taken altogether there really are very few problems especially for a year one launch. I think Ford did very well.
Yes, there will be a lemon here or there full of unaccountable gremlins but at the same time there will many happy customers with no complaints at all.
I'm just glad they got the Rancho-built-specifically-for-Ford shocks fixed from previous generations.
Humor, sarcasm, a joke, please don't attack me shock people
