I have an fx4 and if I hit a good bump it sends the truck all over the road and if it is on a bend it almost wants to bounce you sideways. Has anyone else found this? Is it because of the stiff suspension? Thx in advance for replies
Are you talking about the whole truck or you feel your rear end kicking out from the bumps?
it feels like the whole truck wants to move infact today it put me in the other lane, glad no one was beside me. That's why I did this post, I didn't know if the shocks would have anything to do with it
Sounds like bump steer? Is your truck stock height or does it have a leveling kit? A cheap leveling kit that hasn't got drop brackets can cause this.
It sounds like your tires have too much pressure for the weight they are carrying. I suggest that you look at the weight charts for your tires and run no more than 15 PSI higher than needed for your load. For an empty F350 SRW 6.7, I suspect it's around 65 front and 60 back. If you have 80 in the back, I'd expect a wild ride when empty. My stiffer F450 does not act like you describe at all.
Most of the time those characteristics are a factor of driving too fast for the road conditions. It's take a lot of work and money to make a truck handle washboard road surfaces and some other rough road conditions. A Baja truck can do it because they have mucho $$$$ in the suspensions.
