I am planning to upgrade the speakers in my 1997 crew cab f250. The problem is I have no idea what size speakers I need and how to install them? Does anyone have advice on this?
Go to crutchfield.com, they have diagrams and instruction, for replacing factory speakers, also size of. If for some reason you cant find the information email them or do the live chat.
For cc lb the fronts are 6.5" and rear are 6"x8". Ive heard rockford speakers are fantastic speakers. Im going to need to do both my trucks (one has 2 extra speakers that were installed in the rear door.
Should I invest in speakers to put behind the seat? I will be running a sundown SA-12 sub which will be very loud so I was wondering if I need to accommodate
Better yet give them a call, just tell them what you're looking to get out of your stereo system and they'll hook you up with the best setup and even save you from buying stuff you don't really need. Plus great lifetime customer service. They really know their stuff.
I replaced all of my cab speakers with kicker units from Crutchfield. They've got a great website that will help you determine what fits, and what fits with modification. They also include the correct pigtails to hook directly into your factory speaker harness without cutting/splicing.
I'll be building a box and adding subs and amp that will most likely come from crutchfield as well...
I need to do this as well... PO says he replaced the speakers, but they sound so... cheap. Like those old SONY external laptop speakers I have somewhere.
I have Kenwood eXcelons in my Durango, not sure if they have them in the sizes we'd need, but they sound great! They have a bit of everything, good clean mids and treble, and enough bass for my taste to not even require a sub.
I've used some Helix stuff I wasn't really happy with; I've also run Alpine and various Pioneer setups with good results.
JVC was another brand I didn't care for.
Crutchfield is the only way to go when it comes to getting your needs met. Call them and tell them exactly what sound you're looking for. Often times they'll ask you what you listen to most to tailor the sound to the majority of what you listen to.
Does anybody have experience with subs? Where do you usually put your box?
Typically the subs and amp would be installed behind the seat.
But seriously give Crutchfield a call, they install systems in trucks like ours all the time. They will be able to answer any and all of your questions, probably better then anyone here can.

Does it still have the original radio? They can make even the best speakers sound bad.....lol
