When i come in trouble with car door lock i always call the locksmith to repair the door lock.As they do repair of the locks at cheaper price in comparison to the dealer.

It makes sense that it was a safety feature. It is not so much the getting out of the cab, but if you were going to lock the truck (which most did not) you would have to re-enter through the passenger door. No way to unlock the driver's door - so there must have been an assumption that access (and logically egress) through the passenger door was acceptable.

Ok this maybe a hijack but I need to get a lock on my 49 stock door right side I have 2 locks but no keys so I go to my locksmith he is older than dirt worked on these locks in younger years He says they are pot metal and won't rebuild them.
Have anyone had new keys made by who
Did anyone buy midfifty lock and how did that go(I'm looking into)
And any other ideas on a stock lock?

And my lock guy says $40 and I won't like how the key works.

I would try a different Locksmith. I took two original door locks and a NOS ignition switch to a local Locksmith. He keyed all of them the same for me. There is a metal cover over the pins. He just changed the pins in the door locks. Now I just have one key!
