outside door locks

My 51 has door locks on both doors but the driver side is just for looks . It had a hole on the outside of the door but has no sq. slot on the inside . So i will have to walk around the truck open the passenger door and lock the driver door from the inside then lock the passenger door from the outside with the keys. It may seem like a small thing to most but when you got only one leg things like this are a big inconvience. I never lock doors here were i live but if i took a trip then i would have to go to the affort to lock them. Only thing i can figure is i got a 51 5 star door and a later model guts in the door.

It's funny you mention this, because my 60' f100 only has a lock on the passenger side also.. not even a lock is placed on the driver side. just our luck!

Dale, do you have a picture of the inside of your door before you had the upholstery done? I'm curious whether in fact you do have a Deluxe door or not. Someone may have drilled a hole for the lock cylinder in the past. You still have the latch mechanism from a standard optioned truck.

I should have a latch mechanism with the lock for the driver's door from a Deluxe truck. PM if you're interested.
