Codes, WORNOUT ENGINE, HELP!

Can anyone suggest a TPS Replacement proceedure?

I'm very reluctant to screw with the TB, can anyone assure me its not rocket science?

I bulid RAID servers for IBM so i am mechanically inclined.

However, this look pretty menacing and I can't afford another trip to the mechanic right now or my wife will divorce me.

_said recently to a new father who asked why babies dont sleep thru the night? His reply, "they do until you marry them"

Codes, WORNOUT ENGINE, HELP!

just remove the throtle body turn it over, change your tps, making shure you get the throtle blade in the little tangs on the tps, to reset the tps you'll need a digital volt meter neg probe conec. to the blk/wht wire, and the pos. probe connec. to the grn/lt grn wire, (this is per the haynes manual) you may need to stick pins in the wires and use gator clips, but with it pluged up and you ignition on, adjust (rotate) the tps to read (1.0) volts with the throtle blade closed. tighten the screws. double check the voltage, and remount the throtle body. Goodluck! DW

Codes, WORNOUT ENGINE, HELP!

1/2 a quart every two weeks is a bit high. I find it hard to believe that you have no leaks at 136K. The valve cover gaskets, unless replaced at some point, will almost certainly leak by 136K. They all do. Oil pan gaskets and rear mains are notorious on these engines as well. I consider myself lucky (knocking on wood) that at 113K my oil pan and rear main are good (valve cover gaskets were replaced around 100K, along with the intake manifold gasket that leaked coolant).

In other words, you use a quart a month. How many miles do you drive in a month? That's a little high, but not worth two grand for a rebuild unless you really want it. I had a 66 F100, it had a self-maintaining oil system. It lost two quarts a week through the rear main. So the oil was always clean! And it had a "low oil alarm." When the lifters started tapping, it was time for oil!

I only paid $100 for that truck. I wasn't worried about fixing it.
