Clutch maybe

So last weekend I was wheeling and my truck all of a sudden seem to loose power but the engine ran completely fine what leads me to the clutch was it wouldn't go in first second and all of a sudden she divided to catch and seemed like the truck would only go slow as the engine revved up the truck wouldn't go any faster just kinda stayed the same speed if anyone could help me I'm so lost today I'm taking the clutch apart to take a look and see for myself but has anyone had this problem I had to limp it 80 km home and had to take first gear up hills as I love on a few gnarly hills thanks jr

Could also be the transfer case. Have you tried 4LO?

Sounds like it's slipping... You can check slave cylinder travel and be sure it's releasing fully but if it still slips you'll need to pull it apart and replace the clutch.

I had a similar experience. Clutch still seemed fine on flat ground, but 'slipped' going up hill.
There is a slip clutch built into the dual mass flywheel that is supposed to protect something from braking, but in reality once it slips, the DMF is toast and will continue to slip worse and worse.

exactly what happened. the clutch was in perfect shape and still looked like new. but the disc in the middle of the flywheel came out in pieces.
and the flywheel fell apart in two pieces when it was put on the ground and rolled out from under the truck.

Wow that's real bad Tom!
Mine was all one piece when it came out. I did take it apart to see what the slip part looked like and you could tell it had worn.

mine was used and abused for 320,000 miles though. for the second 100,000 miles it pulled 22,000 lbs all over the ny, nj, pa tri state area for close to three years.
