my 1998 f150 4x4 has a 5 speed in it with a 4.6L.
i can put it in gear and it will move at a high rpm moving very slow
i can only get about 60kms out of it.
If the engine runs normally, the clutch is done.
Have the flywheel resurfaced when you do the clutch, and inspect the clutch hydraulics for leakage. A common cause for toasted clutches is a hydraulic problem (slave cylinder usually) that doesn't allow full clutch release. If not corrected, the new clutch gets fried too.
the shop guy seems to think my tcase gear selector broke and no its stuck in low gear. were hoping its the fork that shifts the 4x4 so i can get my 2 hi back
nothing seems to happen theres no feeling in the gear selection. truck just seems really torquey haha cant spell. gear shifter says im in 2 hi but its 4low
The range fork is in the transfer case. It's the one that selects between high and low range. If the stick is in 2 wheel drive mode but the transfer case is in 4 wheel low then I'd have to say there is a problem with the transfer case....or linkage?
