Does your F150 not start?
2013 F150 wouldn't start. Sat for weeks before people taking a stab at what might be the issue with no resolution. I put the key in the ignition and a starting system malfunction comes up on the dash. To me it's one of 3 things: key not being recognized, ignition, or wiring harness.
I replaced the battery in the key and no difference. Try turning key to start and dash does intermittent light up and does not chime. Hmmm. Harness by the park brake is good.
Looking back on my history with Fords I referred to an experience with an Expedition. The box, don't remember what it's called off hand, in the passenger side kick panel was notorious for issues like my wipers turning on whenever they wanted. Give it a kick and they turn off.
So I pull the kick panel to reveal a fuse panel and wiring harnesses. This area was packed with dirt. I start clearing the dirt along where the wires run and the truck starts chiming. Aha! Now which harness is it. I pulled on the harness at the bottom and it pulled completely out and the truck quit chiming and dash went out. The grey lock on the harness was broken, from being kicked a lot I assume, and allowed the harness to back out just enough. I inserted the harness and flipped the broken levers to lock it in and zip tied in place. Turned the key and instant start.
20 minutes and it was fixed after numerous hours were spent before me. Our trucks see what would be described as Severe usage times 10. I see a lot of oddball things especially suspension and brakes.
Hope this helps someone out if they ever have this issue. If there are other weird issues that come up with Ford trucks I post them up in the future.
