I purchased a 2013 F150 a month or so back and for now it's parked on the street in front of my house. I live across the street from the local high school and someone seems to delight in opening my gas filler cover and sticking thinks in the filler. Of course they can't get anything in the tank due to Fords "High Tech" capless gas cap, but I'm getting tired of finding the cover open every other day.
I installed a locking gas cap designed for the filler so they can't get anything in the tank but I was wondering if Ford every offered a locking cover for the F150?
I'm thinking if there's no easy option of installing a simple circuit and switch that will sound the horn when the cover is opened.
Steer clear of the Bully chrome plated billet locking fuel door. I had one on my '01 F250 and the aluminum corroded; causing the chrome to "bubble" around the allen screws.
I did later do a search for locking fuel doors and there are quite of few options. I was hoping that someone would post here with what they found out when purchasing and using one of them.
I prefer flat black cover due to the truck being the dark grey metallic & black trim, it's a XL model.
On my VW Jetta the fuel door is locked when the car is locked and open when the car is unlocked. I don't see why every car/truck can't be that way?
^its not that every vehicle can't gave a fuel door like your VW, they just don't, fact of life. Every vehicle can't haul a 4x8 sheet of plywood. If every vehicle was the same, what's the fun of that.
