Hi All,
I have a 2017 F250 with 6.2 and the new transmission (only 700 mi), the last time I filled up with gas I reset the trip 1 as usual and noticed the gear indicator was not working in drive. However when I selected manual it worked, after a little fiddling with the gear shift it came on and had no more problems. I filled up with gas again last night reset the trip 1 and the same issue again, only this time no amount of fiddling seems to work. Has anyone heard of this problem? I am having a hard time trying to figure out what the trip reset has to do with the transmission indicator but only in Drive. I can't believe it has anything to do with the recall.

I have a Dodge that does this a lot and I have seen other vehicles do this as well. Stopping for gas is probably just a coincidence. I'm sure and adjustment to a linkage or switch would take care of the problem. I know it's a pain but it sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order.
If you press either the + or - on the shift lever (I forgot which one, it is in the owners owner's manual.) while in drive, the gear indicator pops back up.
Yup, what thrusts says, if you hit the + in dive, it will display all the gears, as you - it will remove gears and force shift downs, if you + again past 6th, it will turn off this display. Once you leave it displayed, it will continue on restart. I have never experienced trip set resetting this display.
Thanks folks, before I read this I drove home from work playing with it at every light. when I got in the driveway I guess I hit the + while fiddling with it. any way it is back on I will be more conscious next time I fuel up.
Thanks again.
The gear shift is a little wonky IMHO. I rented a 2017 for three weeks and always caught myself inadvertently enabling Tow/Haul. I think there's lots of room to improve the ergonomics there.
