Ford 460 DUI ignition install

I have a stock 1970 ford 460 that's going in my 77 it's got and edelbrock intake but that's it, I've got a dui distributor and when it's set down in the oil pump drive shaft move up and down way more than it did in the old distributor, I think it might even come out of the pump if lifted up all the way, has this been a problem for anyone else?

Just to ask the obvious, your distributor is completely seated right?

Is that by chance a Lincoln 460? I don't think Ford made a 460 back in 70. The Ford and Lincoln versions are slightly different

I was told I'd was a 1970 ish block and heads, I know it has d3ve heads on it. And no I have totally wiggled it in place, I had all the way but an 1/8 inch from seating then it started fighting me so I was gonna try and seat it today, but I noticed the pump drive went up about a whole inch into the distributor and came real far out of the pump , and I measured the factory distributor and the dui lets the shaft go much deeper

There is a collar on the shaft that keeps it from coming up, down in the block just above the oil pump. Is yours missing? Can you take the shaft come out the top?
