370 engine

hello all, I want to buy a big block engine but the seller docent know if it is a 370 or a 460 how can I tell which is it I dont want to buy a 370 a have some pics of the engine

If it is from a medium duty truck and you can confirm that, it is a 370. There were no 460s in mediums, and a 429 would be a 4bbl carb.

370 first installed in 1979 600/900 series trucks. It was never installed in F100/350's or Passenger Cars.

460: 1968/78 Lincoln/Continental Marks / 1972/76 Thunderbird / 1973/76 F100 / 1973/78 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars / 1973/79 F250/350 / 1975/79 F150 / 1975/97 E250/350 / 1983/97 F250/350.

the seller didn't gave much info about the donor but, are the any numbers that can help me identified it?

Are you looking for a 460? If so, forget this engine. It's not a 460.

It has a 2bbl carb. 460s are all 4bbl.

Your seller said "370 or 460". Those two engines were never together. 370s are medium truck engines only. 460s are car and light truck only. Thus, if he thinks it could be a 370, he's talking about an engine that came out of a medium truck. Thus, it can't be a 460.
