That is correct. PA74f250. I thought that it may not work.
Is the 76 engine worth messing with. Someone at work said no. No horses.

Internal balance: Block casting number D1VE-6015-AB, or A1B or A2B:

1971/73 Ford/Merc 429; 1971/78 Lincoln/Continental Mark III/IV/V 460; 1973/78 Ford/Merc 460; 1973/76 F100 460; 1973/78 F250/350 460; 1975/78 F150 & E250/350 460.

Some 1979 F150/350 & E250/350 460.

No: 460's in cars after 1978, in F100's after 1976.

A 1979, 460 just came up for sale. Is this worth building? External balancing? It is out of a truck. Should have all the brackets that will work. Unlike the 460 out of the Lincoln I was also considering.

1979 460 could be internal or external balance.

If the block casting number is D9TE-6015-AB = External Balance, has a weighted crank spacer.

If the block casting number is D1VE-6015-AB or A1B or A2B = Internal Balance.

1979 460's installed in F150/350's (except F150's sold new in CA) and E250/350's. No car came w/a 460 after 1978.

Does internal or external make any difference when building or fitting into my truck? Other than re using or replacing the correct type of balancer?

Harmonic balancer and flywheel (flexplate) are specific to one or the other.
