Power Steering Gear Box Help...
Hello F.T.E.'s,
I've had a couple of great replies already and I'm wondering if anyone else has some good info. as to My request below ???
I would like to ask which Power Steering Gear Box IS THE BEST for My 1966 Ford F250 Pick Ups ???, and where is the best place to purchase this outright ???
I have one that is past repair and it needs to be replaced and I have seen a little info. that suggests that it would be best to use A Power Steering Gear Box from A 1976 Ford F250 Pick Up and I'd like to know more / as much as I can particularly as I'm here in Melbourne, Australia ( and approx. 4 Years ago I've was "taken for a ride from an E-bay seller !!! ).
Cheers and Best Regards
Graeme...
N.B. Both of My 1966 F250 Pick Ups are USA / Left Hand Drive Trucks.

There is no simple answer to your question. If you go with a '70 up style Ford gearbox you will need to swap or modify a whole host of other parts: steering column, steering column firewall support bracket, draglink, tie rods, and spindles (or 68/72 steering arms). In North America we can just go to a junk yard or buy a donor truck.
The only "bolt in" is the Bendix unit. However they have a bad reputation for leaking and over heating. Both problems can be solved however by adding a p/s cooler and having the gearbox rebuilt by Red Head (which I would recommend for the Ford box also since you need to make sure it's good when you get it). The main problem is finding a good rebuildable core, and then you have to ship it to Red Head and then get it shipped to Australia. Not going to be cheap.

G' day Bill / Number Dummy and any other FTE else who may read this,
sooooooooooo I'm wondering,,, does anyone have The Correct Pitman Arm to suit The Ford / Saginaw P.S. Gear Box in their shop that they'd be happy to sell to Me ???, then I can more cheaply purchase A Remanufactured Saginaw P.S. Gear Box outright and end up with a better quality repair.
Cheers and Best Regards Graeme...
P.S. I'd be very happy to purchase two of 'em if they are available from another FTE as that way I can convert both of My '66 F250 V8 Pick Ups to Saginaw Units now,,, and then it should be done / finished for My life time !!!
My Two Trucks are:-
1/ An Original USA LeftHand Drive 1966 Ford F250 2 Wheel Drive Long Bed Ranger Pick Up with Ford FE390 V8 Engine and C 6 Transmission...
2/ An Original USA Left Hand Drive 1966 Ford F250 2 Wheel Drive Crew Cab Pick Up with Ford FE 390 V8 Engine and C 6 Transmission.
