Valve Spring Tool

Hi All,

I have a 1978 F 250 400 ci eng.

I need to R&R the valve springs with the heads still on the vehicle.

Is there a specific valve spring compressor tool out there just for the 400? or do I use a universal one. I know the specific ones can make the process a whole lot easier. If there is a specific one or a universal one that works really well, please include the brand and model number.

Thank you,

Have not used it (we used the old rope-in-the cylinder method) but quick search shows quite a few listings similar to:
Universal Overhead Valve Spring Compressor

Thanks, I have used this type , and it takes a little fiddling around to get it to work. May have to fabricate something.

I bought this tool along with the air connection that screws into the spark plug hole. The valve didn't seal well enough to hold the air in the cylinder. After wasting a day fighting with it, I pulled the heads and bought this. Worked beautifully. I think I got it either from HF or ebay for $20.
