TorqShift-G 6R100 Temperature

I just bought a new 2017 and noticed that the transmission temperature seems to run higher than any other vehicle that I have owned. Could others please report the maximum temperature they see via the Vehicle Information Center? The temperature after the truck has been running a while.

Thanks so much.

I just ran over Jellico on I-75 in TN both ways this weekend, towing about 6K pounds.. Saw 203F at the highest. 4th gear, doing about 60mph.

Thank you. Happen to know temp if not towing? I see 203F going up slight grade with nothing in tow.

Honestly have not ever checked.. I will soon when I get out on a straight stretch of road for a while.. I have the idiot gauge open at the top, so knew it was fine, but just thought to look at the digital readout this trip..

My 2002 F350 7.3 4R100 ran ~160F. My 2002 Chevy Tahoe runs ~155F. My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee runs 170F. Maybe these just run hotter but want to make sure. My 2017 has only 212 miles so far. Thanks again!

My 2011 settles around 200 unloaded once up to temp. What you're seeing is nothing to worry about.

What you're seeing is normal. The 6R100 you have is a modified 6R80 transmission from the F150. It's pretty routine to see temps over 200F. In fact, the diesel Fords with the 6R140 transmission sees those temps as well.

Thanks. I wonder why Ford finds the high temp acceptable? Heat is a definite enemy.

Because the trans is more efficient at higher temperatures. The materials, including the fluid, have no problem with these temperatures. Many people seem to think that it is a problem, but they just don't know what they are talking about.

I've come to the conclusion that Ford has intentionally raised the operating temps on the current model year. Both the engine and the transmission are 10 degrees warmer than my 2011. Like Mark said, it's nothing to worry about and probably has certain benefits.

Swap-out the oem fluid with Amsoil and you'll see temps drop.....I saw temps drop in my A4LD Bronco II while plowing. I was thoroughly impressed to say the least! (Yep, I installed a temperature gauge as I was concerned while pushing snow with a known weak transmission).
