So does the phone app for starting the truck work on the superduties or not and if not how come the work on cars and the f150.
Mine works fine...
You'll need the PLUG & PLAY add on Perimeter Alarm & Smart Start module it works just fine.
Banner Ford has the combined units for $339 on EBAY (free PIN activation, over the phone).
the Alarm notification (via cellular text & email) and remote (lock, unlock & start) require an annual subscription for $49.

Thanks bushpilot so do you use the smart start app or the ford app ? I know I can get the smart start system but ford has their own app now
I was told only if modem installed at build will the full functionality work. I am interested, I would like to start from smart phone, lock, unlock ect.

It was already stated above what you need. Contact banner Ford on eBay. I've been starting, locking/unlocking and getting texts from my truck for about a week now, super simple to install. The guy above that says it needs to be installed by the factory or maybe in 2018 is just plain wrong.

^^ I second that comment. Mine works fine as well, it's not a factory thing - you can get it after market via your dealer or purchase and install yourself.
Ford Pass and Remote Access are two completely different things.
It's sometimes a bit confusing. Ford Pass only works if the vehicle is equipped with the Sync Connect modem from the factory, and only certain vehicles currently have that option. Remote Access can be added to most newer Ford's with the combo Perimeter Plus security module and RMU Remote Access module, the one bushpilot posted.
The one due out later this year is another add-on option similar to Remote Access.
FordPass is something different then remote access. Most vehicles are currently not equipped with it, and as of right now you will not be able to update to it (that may change in the future)
Remote access is exactly that. It gives you the ability to lock/unlock/start/stop from your smart phone. It is integrated in the truck by a t harness for the ODB port. You do need the VSS module (basically the hub for all remote start add ons) for it to work. This will also give you the ability to receive text/email alerts to your phone if your vehicle alarm is going off.
The new part that is coming out later this year will be a ODB dongle. Basically it will have to stay plugged in 24/7. So for anyone running tuners with a monitor that is being plugged in already, you would have to make a decision on which one you want.
Shot me a message for any questions, and we are set up now as a vendor, so we can sell directly to forum members.

FordPass offers more then just remote start/stop/lock/unlock.
It is connected thru Sync, and will give you access to other features in your vehicle, such as fuel gauge. It is basically everything Sync does in your car, but just on your phone as well.
Not sure which features would be available if they make an after purchase option. As of now they are telling us that it is not backward compatible.
IMO fordpass is worthless (for superdutys) - it does little or nothing.
FordPass is a connection to the dealer (for calling, or scheduling)
IT provides a connection to ford credit (singular or automated payment setup)
and it among other stuff it provides fuel pricing (ala gas buddy).
it does NOTHING to connect or automated our superduties - in a nutshell, you don't even really need to install it (its not integrated to anything).
IF you have the add-on perimeter alarm and remote module -
Ford REMOTE ACCESS is your connection to the vehicle for lock/unlock, engine start/stop and alarm triggers.
