No, you can pull the sending unit and pickup tube out by lifting the bed. Installing a sump can be done without dropping the tank - if you have a low fuel level and a big drain pan.
Not suggesting you do any of that yet though. What is your fuel tank level?
If you have a vacuum pump, you can check to see if you can draw fuel out of the tank. You can also change the pump out for $110 (don't need to replace the entire $350 HFCM).
I'll post this pic so you know what's what. Also, if you put clear hose inline with the suction line from tank and from pump to engine you can monitor and look for air bubbles. You can also put a pump on the suction side from the tank and see if you get any fuel. If no fuel than you know you're next step is to get in the tank.
Tank is 1/2 full. removed the fuel lines from pump and blew air in the line from tank to pump and could hear bubbles in the tank. I'm thinking it has to be the pump even though it runs when cycling the key. Thoughts anyone?
