Curious what people do for the side moldings....really want to get them redone to the original shine... would it be rechroming or would powder coating work?
Email'd Sherms: Requested quote from 4-6 bezels, included photo's, now matter of waiting for response and compare prices?
I have done business with Superior Chrome, aint cheap but quality work. 5 Star customer reviews. Unless told otherwise, and if Sherms quote is close to Superior, possibly stay with Superior?
Dave:
If you don't mind, give us a comparison when you get your estimate, comparing with superior. Sherm's has my current lot of 8 small parts. The estimate was for the batch so hard to tell piece by piece but my impression is that the bezels were about $45-50. It might be cheaper to do business with chrome platers outside of Calif. but there's shipping and I always feel that I have less leverage if I needed to see them in person for some reason.

The quote rec'd from Superior, based on photo's, $60 each, don't believe I will receive a quote significant to warrant traveling about in search for a shop, particularly now gas is an additional 12 cents/gal.? Also, also from experience, found few shop outsources the work? Should receive response from email requesting quote for comparison?
I'm going to give this place a try: nuprintcustoms.com/hd-chrome/. As long as both bezels are done the same way I think it will look fine, and cost a fraction of what real chroming would. I saw some of their work on one of the TV car shows and it looked pretty darn good.
Confirmed they do chrome bezel, returned email w/ photo's, now awaiting reaponse.
Compared to Superior, sounds like a 2fer to me. Sherms responded; $35 per, depending upon condition, plus Gov. Brown's Ca. environmental tax of 8%, plus sales tax, plus cost of shipping, still possibly the best option, 4 week turnaround? Waiting for response from Nuprint Customs.

I just talked with a local shop about re-anodizing the grille and the interior trim. They said if I did the polishing after they stripped the old anodize off. It would probably be less than $200 for everything. Their minimum is $125. Don't know what that side trim is made of. Someone removed it from my truck years ago and welded up the holes.
In post #11, pic of my 65 grille was all DIY; not an example of superior workmanship but suitable for the families daily driver and workhorse. IMO, the major part of the reconditioning of the grille was the sanding and polishing, purchased anodized stipper from Zero Rust, not sure if they are still in business, nor if removing anodize any simpler. If I had to go thru removing the anodize and shop willing to strip the anodize for $125, I would give it some serious thought?
I think I paid 100 to powder coat my grill. I've powder coated 1400$ worth of parts over the last two years. I'm cool with the powdercoat over the anodized or chrome. It's all over every vehicle. What would make you happy- go for that!

Appears I am kicking this dead horse thread to death, greatly appreciate the input!!
Rec'd quote from Nupring Custom; $45 ea. to include repair the pitting and chroming. Temped to ship to Tn. vs Ca., comparing shipping cost before making decision?
Dave:
The bezels are small parts and maybe not critical, but I think beating the dead horse is worthwile. The results will determine what I decide to do with my bigger (and more $$) stuff!
