2007 E150, what is causing it do die while driving?
Giving engine code that 6th cylinder is faulty. Replaced it twice. Replaced ECM
with factory new. Van continues dying (all dead, electrical, engine) at random
intervals. Sometimes while accelerating, sometimes when starting up,
sometimes slowing down and in idle.
Some of the trouble-shooting cover the 4.6 / 5.4 from '97-'02, but in general most of the sensors remained the same up to '08+.
When you say "..... (all dead, electrical, engine)...." do you mean the engine just turns off, or you have no dash lights, no electrical power?? That would be related to the battery cables, and especially the ground cables/connections.
Also.......from the above link, read the topic on Page 4......No Start Due To Voltage Drop (Case Study)
The engine turns off, dash and all electrical go out. It occurs more frequently accelerating from a stop (stop sign, etc.). But has also occurred while going 40mph+, and immediately after turning the car on (cold or warm start).
Have changed the 6th coil twice, along with plugs, fuel filter, and now ECM, all based on different mechanics recommendations.
Wouldn't the ground cables be the first thing they check?
thanks for the response
If all power goes out, including the dash, then it would lead back to a bad battery cable, most likely the ground cable, or even a bad battery? Bad battery cable connector?? Could you get a "load-test" on the battery from some shop?
A few other facts from the weekend. Up until Saturday it was mainly my wife that has been driving. I drove it and experienced the van dying at 30 mph while slightly accelerating .
Then Sunday, after pulling out from a stop sign, going about 20 MPH, I felt the power dip, and the engine started stalling. I revved the gas and it maintained 20MPH, but wouldn't shift lower, or higher. In fact, I kept the pedal to the floor and it didn't accelerate at all, it did nothing. I was able to coast into the parking lot and then put it in park. it was idling rough and died in park. Restarted fine, and drove okay for the next 30 minutes.
Strange?
You went from complete electrical shut down (OP), to lack of power/stall.
Your last post points to maybe a problem with the fuel pump/filters, that would cause the problem you experienced.
Get to a shop that has the full Diagnostic scanner, not from a parts store that will read the codes for free, Big difference.
