I kind of like the basic and cleaner look of the aftermarket ones BUT I still can't decide if I even want splash guards on the truck! They look so clean without them.
My '12 F150 and my new '19 F250 had the nice factory ones on when I brought them home from the dealership. I like what they do, and I'm even contemplating putting them back on the 250, but I really like how clean the truck looks without them.
I’ve had the WeatherTechs on my truck for 6 or 8 months and REALLY like them. They look good and are very effective. In the past I would never consider adding mudflaps to any truck of mine. After having these, I’ll never have another truck that I don’t install them on.
I got my dealer to put on Gaterbacks. After he saw the price he bauqued a bit, but it was our agreement so he just gave me a song about how he didn't know the price and wined a bit. I felt so bad for him.
HA! yeah and we have to have the chrome silhouette of a naked lady one 'em!
(FWIW folks, what Bill states is NOT true).
When we registered in Travis County (outside Austin) they would not issue plates to anyone who had not passed a safety inspection which required that trucks had to have mud flaps. Perhaps its changed but in 2014 this was the case.

for COMMERCIAL trucks....sure.....but not passenger/private pickup trucks.
Theres some confusion (vagueness in the law) as to DRW's needing them but thats been proven untrue.
SRW's have NEVER needed 'em.
Ive had pickup trucks since the 90s in Texas - NONE of 'em ever had mud flaps (that I didnt put on myself), and NEVER was it EVER part of inspection.
Some one either THOUGHT you were commercial or they didnt understand the LAW!
Have a look at the dealer lots....none of 'em have them from the factory nor are they put on by the dealer unless specified by the buyer.
