I'm looking into putting a new stereo and speakers in my 2000 F-250. Four doors, lariat. My question is, what size stereo fits in the housing. 2 DIN? I went from my 96 F-150 to this truck so not overly familiar with specifics yet.
All post a pic of mine that's a double din. Also after a quick google search of a 2000 f-250 interior pic, I would say you defiantly have a double din.
You do need a dash kit! Its the plastic hardware that fits between the stereo and the actual dash on the side. Also if it was the same as mine you probably have to file, or dremel grind or cut that small lip down on the top & bottom of the stock stereo dash.
To save myself the hassle of possibly buying the wrong dash kit I simply went to "Car Toys" & bought the dash kit from them. Yes I payed a little more, but I knew that if they sold me the wrong kit & it didn't fit I could easily return it locally.
Even with my 14 year old, stock, dry rotted speakers at the difference in sound quality! Just makes me want to door my speaker replacement sooner.
Also the stock head-unit probably has a plastic support that slides onto a metal support sleeve in the dash itself to support the rear of the radio. My new head-unit wouldn't fit with it, but was a nice snug anyways without it.
