Stereo install kit

Ok, I have never been able to find a dash kit for a new stereo for my old 95, and now I have been to walmart, bestbuy and a local stereo store, and they dont have one for a 96 either.

So I get on amazon, and find this http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FD1327...5168295&sr=8-1

But when I put my truck in at the top, it then says that this will not work.

Can someone tell me what I need to buy. Thanks.

Go to Car Stereo Installation at Crutchfield.com

They will have what you need.

When you say dash kit you mean wireing? Or a radio for your dash?

There is no dash kit required... The hole in the dash is the correct size already... Only thing offered is the wiring pigtail

Crutchfield will have the dash kit (there is a trim ring to complete the correct look) and the wiring kit. That is why I buy stereos from them. I just installed a Kenwood am-fm-cd-mp3 ready with USB drive unit in my 1995 and 96. Cost me $79 each and they throwed in the install kits.

Ok, I got the old stereo pulled, and Im ready to install. The only problem I have is, the sleeve on the stereo wont fit throught the stock hole. The radio itself will, but once you put the din cage on, it wont fit.

Then my next area of concern is. There is nothing holding the radio in the dash. If I could get the din cage in, that would be a little bit of friction holding it in, but nothing to sturdy. And if you jimmy the din ring on the front, the radio will fall into the dash.

Help please. I have never had this much trouble putting in a cd player.

The "cage" should slide in and there should be a few tabs you can bend outwards to hold it in place then the stereo should slide in..... Not sure what the issue is but the hole should be the right size.....

Does the din cage fit in the hole and the stereo just won't fit into the cage?

Din cage will not fit in the dash.
Stereo alone will fit in dash
Stereo will fit in din cage out side of truck.

It seems odd to me that the stereo will fit in the dash, but the cage wont.

The cage should fit.... Is there a lip that's stoping it that can be trimmed?

no, it just seems its too big all around. If I were going to make it fit, I would have to trim the dash.....not exactly what I want to do.

Are you sure you're not trying to put the cage in backwards? Other than that, I have no idea why it's not fitting.

I am with others on this. The cage should fit. On my 95 it went in real easy but on the 96 it was a little tight and did not want to slide in. A little squeeze here and there and it went. Also both of mine had a rear hanger mount just the factory unit. It came with the Crutchfield install kit.

Ok, I took my knife to the dash, and cut a small amount of plastic out of the dash, and then the din sleeve slid in a little easier.

I then soldered the new connector to the stereo connector, and I was done.

Thanks for putting up with me, I thought there was some sort of trick, come to find out, I just needed to cut some plastic.

Also, why do most people use but connectors or crimp connections for their harness's? I think soldering it would be better, but maybe that is just me.
