Hubs

1992 f250 4x4. I did ball joints and bearing reaplacrment. I've only done one side. After assembly and a short test drive I got out to check the hub. It's almost to hot to touch. Now I think it has somethin to do with the selector because temp is hotter there and cool toward where the bearing is. The odd thing is the side I didn't work on was locked and had no problem (just noticed that)so when I noticed that I put it in free spin no problems on that side. Just fishing for ideas or something I've missed. Thanks.

My guess is you tightened the hub nut too much and there's too much bearing preload. Pull it apart and back it out about 1/8 turn and reassemble and I bet it runs cooler.
